Robin Bird was also recognised with an award for his contribution to the village of Rayne through the organisation of the Poppy Collection and provision of wreaths for the Remembrance Service, over many years.

This years Parish Council Citizenship Awards were presented at the Councils Annual Assembly held on the 14th March in the Old School Room.

This years awards were given to Cllr Ian McNee for his long standing service to the Parish Council and to Cllr Harold Giles for his long standing service to the Parish council.

Both Ian and Harold are standing down at this years elections and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their work over the years in helping to make Rayne a better place to live.

An award was also presented to James Baker in recognition of his work helping the Amenity Space Committee take forwards plans for Oak Meadow.

This years Parish Council Citizenship Awards were presented at the Councils Annual Assembly held on the 24th May in the Old School Room.
In a change from past years 2010 has seen a business chosen for recognition for the first time.

Rayne Post Office fills a very important role in the life of the village. If you need a bar of chocolate, road tax, or a package sent to the North Pole Rayne Post Office is the place to go. For many older people the Post Office is a vital lifeline in their daily life. Therefore the Parish council takes great pleasure in recognizing the hard work and dedication that Amrita, Annie and all of the staff put in to keep this essential facility running.

Our second presentation was made to Barry Mouser of Rayne Cricket Club. For more years than he may care to remember Barry has tended and nurtured the Wicket on the playing field. In addition Barry has also worked to maintain the playing field in general. The inscription on his award reads "In recognition of his contribution to the life of the village of Rayne for many years as voluntary groundsman to Rayne Cricket Club"

This years Parish Council Citizenship Awards were presented at the Councils Annual Assembly held on the 18th May in the village Hall.

The first award was made to Mrs Liz MacNee.
Liz was nominated "In recognition of her kindness in visiting the elderly in the village and offering support to vulnerable people, who have received help and assistance as a result of her actions".
The Second award to was presented to "The Friends of the Flitch Way". They were nominated "Thanking the group for keeping the Flitch Way and other footpaths maintained and in use for the whole village"

	The Awards Were presented by Cllr Pat Roberts,as Vice Chair, in the absence of Chairman Martyn Phillips. The third of this years awards was given to the Rev Philip Meader at his retirement service a few weeks earlier.

After some thirteen years as Rector of the United Benefice of Panfield and Rayne The Reverend Philip Meader has retired.
The event was marked by a Service held at All Saints, Rayne, with Tea served in the Old School Room afterwards.
The Parish Council took the opportunity to present Philip with a Citizenship Award for his dedication and hard work in the Parish.

The Award was presented by Council Chairman Martyn Phillips and we all wish Philip and his wife Veronica, a long and happy retirement.
